High School Students Compete Successfully in Island-wide Competitions

Lindenhurst, NEW YORK (January 2024)—Lindenhurst High School’s Model UN students have been making a name for themselves this year at competitions across the Island. The Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly, and its other multilateral bodies, at which students perform an ambassador role while debating poverty, homelessness, global health, and other global topics.

Through public speaking, critical thinking and in-depth research, the Model UN experience allows students to cultivate skills to enrich their global affairs knowledge. The Lindenhurst Model UN has competed this year in several Model UN competitions, and have done extremely well taking home several awards. These competitions take place at other schools throughout Long Island.

The Lindenhurst Model UN students work hard to prepare, meeting up to twice per week to practice their public speaking and research current event topics for these competitions. The Lindy Model UN hopes to soon host its own competition at the high school.
