Lindenhurst School District created our Spanish Dual Language Program in 2019 at Albany Avenue Elementary School. The dual language program seeks to offer students the opportunity to become bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural while improving their academic ability.

The two-way Immersion program includes both native English speakers and English language learners (ELLs). The teachers provide instruction in both English and in Spanish.

Students receive half of their instruction in their primary or home language, and the remainder of their instruction in the target language, the language that they are learning. Students learn to speak, read, and write in two languages, and also learn about other cultures while developing strong self-esteem and diverse language skills.

Each year a new kindergarten cohort is organized. Meetings are scheduled during the year to share pertinent information regarding the dual language program and to allow parents to ask questions and network with each other.
