The District is in the process of updating its registration requirements. For more information, please see "Know Your Rights" Guidance available at the New York State Department of Education website. The District will consider all forms of proof of residency and age listed in the “Know Your Rights” Guidance. If you have any questions about what are acceptable proofs of residency and age as the school updates its registration page, please contact the District Registrar.
The fastest way to register is online by following these easy steps:.
Required documents: Proof of birth, immunization records, physical exam, photo ID of parent or guardian and proof of residency for owners or renters.
Dual Language: If you are interested in placing your child in the district’s 2024-25 Kindergarten Spanish Dual Language program, please visit the district’s website under “Dual Language Program Information” and fill out the Google form.
Lindenhurst UPK parents do not need to re-register. You will receive information in the mail directly from the Central Office.
Lindenhurst Special Education students must register for kindergarten.
In accordance with established policy of the Lindenhurst School District, children must be 5 years of age on or before Dec. 1, 2024 to be enrolled in kindergarten for the upcoming year. If your child has received or is currently receiving preschool special education services, you will still need to register for kindergarten. For your child to be included in kindergarten screening and orientation, it is asked that you make every effort to register your child as soon as possible. Children who have not been registered by the screening and/or orientation dates scheduled by the individual elementary schools will not be allowed to attend the screening and/or orientation.
As a specific number of kindergarten seats exist in each elementary school, the district must utilize a first-come, first-served procedure. Please note that students registering later during the year may be enrolled in an overflow school within the Lindenhurst Union Free School District.
To register your child for transportation and/or textbooks for private and pariochial schools, please submit the completed Private and Parochial School Textbook and Transportation Form and required documents as listed on the form to registration@lufsd.org.
