District transportation information for large bus routes will be posted to the Parent Portal the week of Aug. 22. Parents will need to have or set up a Parent Portal account to view bus information under the bus tab.
District transportation information for school vans will be provided directly from the bus company, Suffolk Transportation, on Aug. 28, 29, and 31. Drivers will notify parents with route numbers, times, and bus stop locations.
Nonpublic or private school bus information will be provided directly from Suffolk Transportation on Aug. 22-26. Drivers will notify parents with route numbers, times, and bus stop locations.

Bus Eligibility
- New York State school districts are required by the Education Law to provide transportation for all elementary pupils residing more than two miles from school, and for secondary pupils residing more than three miles from school. The Lindenhurst Board of Education has lowered these minimum distances from the New York State requirements to as follows:

- Senior Early Dismissal Bus - 12:50 pm in front of HS and drops off at Elementary Schools.

Bus Information – Non-Public School

Applications submitted after April 1st 2025 are not guaranteed, and are contingent on seat availability on the bus.
- Bus routes will be communicated by the bus company with approximate times and route information prior to the new school year.
- Kindergarten and new student residents are required to register with the District Central Registration office, contact 631-867-3055 or registration@lufsd.org
Bus Stop Change Request
- The district uses most advanced routing software and our knowledge of the area to place all bus stops at the safest location possible. If you feel that there is a safety issue that must be addressed regarding your child’s bus stop, please complete the Bus Stop Request Form (located in the Department Form & Information Section) and return it to the district Transportation Coordinator for review. Emergency School Closure and Inclement Weather
- In the event of a districtwide emergency school closings, transportation will not be provided to any schools.
- In the event the district puts into place an alternate bus stop schedule due to flooding, please view the alternate emergency bus stop schedule (located in the Department Information section) for affected bus routes.
