The newly formed LMS Builders Club recently installed its officers and members.

The Builders Club of Lindenhurst Middle School installed its officers and members of the newly formed club on February 25, 2025, under the direction of its advisor Teresa Moar. This is the first year of the club and it joins the Kiwanis family. Thanks to the support of Superintendent Vincent Caravana, the club was formed this school year and is composed of 14 sixth graders. It is chartered by the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst.
Builders Club is a student-led service club for students in middle school. Builders Club was originally developed by, and is modeled after, Kiwanis International, a global network of men and women devoted to serving the children of the world. The stated purpose of Builders Club is to develop leadership through service to the school and community. Created in 1975, Builders Club is the largest service leadership program for students in middle school.
A Builders Club provides students with opportunities for community service. Members find a place to belong — and to learn about their own skills and interests. The Builders Club experience helps them make a difference and develop essential life skills such as empathy, teamwork, public speaking, planning and problem solving. Students become confident leaders, learning about the needs in their school or organization — and in their community — and then contributing in meaningful ways.
On Feb. 25th, the officers and members of the Lindenhurst Builders Club were officially inducted! The club just began this year and is chartered thanks to the sponsorship of the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst. Builders Club is a club dedicated to empowering students in their middle years to grow, develop essential skills, and make a difference in their community.
This year, our young members have actively volunteered their time and efforts across various community activities. Several members participated under a Kiwanis tent at the Oktoberfest this past fall, showcasing their commitment to community engagement. Additionally, in collaboration with the Student Council and Lindy Cares Club, the Builders Club collected food, created signs, sorted items, and assisted with putting the baskets together for a Thanksgiving food drive. In December, our students wrapped holiday gifts for a family sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst. To promote awareness during Red Ribbon Week, the students of Builders Club adorned the middle school with red ribbons both inside and out. We are currently working on anti-bullying advocacy posters for our middle school. As we approach the end of the year, we have several more school and community events planned, and our students are also tasked with proactively seeking out volunteer opportunities while diligently tracking their service hours.
