Students in Ellen Brewi’s seventh grade American Sign Language class at Lindenhurst Middle School recently participated in a deaf and blind unit to gain a greater understanding of the difficulties associated with the conditions.
As part of the lesson, students went to various stations to try puzzles, check out Braille books and playing cards, and complete a Braille worksheet. They took turns acting as guides and walking with a cane.
