Third grade students in Shaina Fischer’s class at West Gates Elementary School recently completed a project which brought together cultures from around the world and showcased the diversity in the food people consume globally.

As part of the activity, students began learning about various cultures and traditions. Students then worked with their families to learn about a cultural family recipe. The class then came together with their recipes and compiled the recipes to make a class cookbook.

The activity served as an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the cultures of their peers as they shared various aspects of their culture, such as holiday traditions and things that are important to them and their families.
