Students in the Albany Avenue dual language classes recently celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by reading “Three Pockets Full,” by Cindy L. Rodriguez.
Students learned about a guayabera, which is a shirt worn during traditional Mexican occasions. After learning about the traditional shirt, students designed their own guayabera and wrote about what they would put in their pockets. Students learned this lesson in English with Mrs. Cognato and Mrs. Ferro. They were also taught this lesson in Spanish with Senora Portillo, exposing students to the lesson in both languages.
