Ancient Art and Fashion Serve as Inspiration for CTE Students

Lindenhurst, NEW YORK (February 2024)—Lindenhurst High School students in Ms. Reismiller’s World of Fashion class recently visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see its famed ancient Egypt exhibit. The students, who are studying fashion for their career and technical education classes, used the experience for inspiration for their own future fashion design work.

The class is one of the many career and technical education classes at Lindenhurst High School that give students valuable trade experiences while still in high school. In Ms. Reismiller’s class, students are looking to pursue a career in fashion design, and they have been recently studying the culture and traditions of ancient Egypt. The art and fashion from this period have served as inspiration for generations of fashion designers; this exciting trip gave the students to see it in person and derive their own inspiration.

In addition to Ms. Reismiller, business teacher Joanne Williams and Lindenhurst CTE Coordinator Tom Scarola helped organize this special trip.
