LMS Math teacher honored with ASSET Bright Light Award

Lindenhurst's own Scott Moar, a middle school math teacher, was recently honored with the ASSET Bright Light Award. Scott exemplifies everything this honor represents: innovation, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to elevating teaching and learning through purposeful, meaningful technology integration.
In the words of Trecia Wong, Lindenhurst's coordinator of mathematics, "Scott brings tremendous value not only to his students, but to his colleagues and the entire school community. In his classroom, technology is not an add-on, it is woven seamlessly into instruction. His students engage daily with Chromebooks to extend and deepen their learning, whether through Google Classroom, Canva, interactive platforms, or the newest digital tools he thoughtfully selects to amplify engagement and understanding. Scott has an exceptional ability to introduce students to technology in ways that feel natural, accessible, and empowering. His classroom environment embodies 21st-century learning at its best."
Beyond his direct impact on students, Scott is a true beacon of support for his colleagues. He is the person everyone turns to whether troubleshooting technical challenges, helping a teacher navigate digital tools, or demonstrating the latest instructional technology that can transform a lesson. Scott is consistently at the forefront of emerging ed-tech trends and generously shares his knowledge with patience, clarity, and enthusiasm. His collaborative spirit elevates the capacity of the entire staff, making him an invaluable resource and a trusted leader.
Scott’s influence is felt far beyond the four walls of his classroom. He models what it means to be a reflective practitioner, a forward thinker, and an educator deeply committed to preparing students for a rapidly evolving world. His passion for technology integration, combined with his dedication to helping others, makes him the very definition of a “bright light” in our district.
Scott received his award at an ASSET luncheon at the end of January
