Lindenhurst Football Alum Honored

College Stars Jack Winey and Will Ruckert Recognized by Town, State after Nationals Win

Lindenhurst, NEW YORK (January 2024)—Lindenhurst High School graduates Jack Winey (class of 2021) and Will Ruckert (class of 2020) were recently recognized for their roles in winning the Division III national football championship for the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons. The Town of Babylon and Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre honored the two local football stars for this major accomplishment.

While at Lindenhurst High School, Jack and Will played a major part in Lindenhurst High School winning the Long Island Championship and in receiving the Rutgers Cup in 2019. Will has been at Cortland since he graduated from Lindenhurst, while Jack transferred to Cortland this year from SUNY Nassau.

“Lindenhurst is honored to have cultivated such talented athletes,” said Interim Superintendent Vincent Caravana. “Congratulations to Jack and Will. I know they’ll continue to make their hometown very proud!”
