During the Oct. 18 meeting of the Lindenhurst Union Free School District Board of Education, the nine esteemed members of the Board were recognized for their tireless efforts representing the students, staff and members of the Lindenhurst community as part of School Board Appreciation Week.
As part of the recognition, Board members received thank-you cards from sixth grade art students in Ashley Booth’s class created using a printmaking technique and thank-you cards from seventh grade students made using various elements of art in Kyla Zitti’s class. The Board members viewed an art display consisting of tattoo-inspired drawings from Tara Biscardi’s Drawing and Painting class and photography work from Advanced College and Portfolio students in Biscardi’s class.
Additionally, Lindenhurst High School administration presented the Board with a print of Sierra Calderaro’s artwork which won the District 2 Congressional Art Competition last year. Also, Lindenhurst Middle School students in Christine Mansfield and Gillian Sutera’s Family and Consumer Science classes prepared cookies in a jar for each Board member, and High School Family and Consumer Science students in Toni Pastore’s class made cake pops.
