School spirit was on display as the Lindenhurst school community showed emphatic support for the varsity football team during the annual Lindenhurst Union Free School District homecoming. The events began on Oct. 13 with the middle school pep rally where student-athletes from all fall teams showed their Lindy Pride, donning green and white and cheering from the bleachers.
Festivities continued into the evening as the high school pep rally brought together all sports teams, the marching band, the dance team and the cheerleaders to further demonstrate the immense amount of Lindy Pride that looked to propel their team to victory. To conclude the high school pep rally, homecoming queen Bernadette Dela Cruz and king Giovanni Tarte were announced to the loud applause of their fellow schoolmates. The student council and athletic department coordinated the weekend’s activities.
The parade on Oct. 14 began at Fireman’s Park, made its way down Wellwood Avenue and ended at Lindenhurst Middle School. Each class and school building float represented different decades, with the senior class winning the float contest. In the end, the Bulldogs were victorious as they defeated Central Islip 31-0.
