The Lindenhurst High School boys and girls varsity track teams held their annual Elementary Track Meet last Saturday, May 6. The event is held as both a fundraiser and a way for high school athletes to share and promote the sport they love.
Elementary students participated in clinic stations that were taught and managed by varsity athletes. Following the clinic stations, each pre-K through fifth grader chose three events to participate in.
The event was funded by local businesses and featured raffles that were sold and donations that were made by athletes, alumni and parents. The event raised more than $2,200. That money will go to both the Christina Renna and George Smawley Memorial scholarships and help the varsity athletes attend camps and clinics.
