Lindenhurst Appoints Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services

Last month, the Lindenhurst Union Free School District Board of Education appointed Dr. Kristi Keingstein as the districts’ new assistant superintendent for special education and pupil personnel services.

Dr. Keingstein joins the district after most recently serving as the director of CPSE, elementary special education and pupil personnel services in the Manhasset School District for two years. During her time at Manhasset, Dr. Keingstein was responsible for implementing and maintaining preschool and elementary special education programs and services in conformance to district, state and federal objectives and laws; oversaw the supervision, planning, design and implementation of all aspects of service provided by the special education staff and supported teachers as learners and leaders in their classrooms while modeling effective instructional practices.

Prior to her time as the director of CPSE, elementary special education and pupil personnel services, Dr. Keingstein served as the director for special education in the Commack School District for three years and also served as the special education supervisor at the Massapequa School District for one year. Additionally, Dr. Keingstein was an elementary assistant principal in the Massapequa School District for one year and was a special education teacher in the East Northport Union Free School District for seven years.
 

Dr. Keingstein holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in special education and general education from St. Joseph’s University, a Master of Science of Education degree in literacy and a Doctor of Education degree in interdisciplinary educational studies from Long Island University. Additionally, she holds a certificate of advanced studies in school leadership from The College of Saint Rose.
