Alleghany Avenue Elementary School first grade teacher Katherine Furchert was awarded a grant for flexible seating earlier this year from DonorsChoose, a nonprofit organization where teachers create projects that request resources and experiences for their students and individual donors can choose a project they want to fund.
Furchert’s project was called “Flexible Seating and More!” The project was fully funded and the class received the materials that were a part of the project. It included seat cushions for flexible seating, STEM magnet movers, magnet tiles for STEM projects and magnetic ten frame boards.
