Dear Lindenhurst High School Students and Parents:

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year.   I trust that your summer was restful and productive ready of the challenges that we will overcome this school year.  I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all our new students to Lindenhurst High School.  The enclosed packet contains information that should ease your transition back to school when it opens on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Please pay special attention to the items listed below.

In June, 2019 we will be graduating our 100th senior class.  I look forward to a memorable school year as we work with the administration and senior class in making the graduation exercise a very special one.

School hours

Our school hours are 7:28 AM – 2:05 PM. Please plan on arriving to school by at least 7:15 AM in order to begin your day with plenty of time to arrive at class. Please be advised that punctuality to school will be strictly enforced.

This year we will continue to make safety one of our top priorities.  Effective September, we ask that parents refrain from leaving food and equipment deliveries in the attendance office during regular school hours.  Our attendance staff can no longer accept or supervise such deliveries.  Such deliveries result in loss of instructional time for our students and teachers.  Equally so, our students are not permitted to leave the school grounds without parental permission and/or supervision.  Students are encouraged to eat the lunch provided by Aramark, our school lunch service provider or pack a lunch, as we no longer allow student outside food vendor deliveries on school grounds.  We have implemented new entry/exit procedures which include the installation of a man-trap.  All visitors must be cleared by our security officers before they enter the building.  At 7:25am, all access doors will be locked at which point students must use the main entrance only.  No one is permitted to let anyone in through any door.  By the first week of October, all students will receive new ID cards which will have their updated photographs.  Life Touch will be here during the first week of September to take photographs of all our students so that we can update our student database system.  Students must retain and present their student ID cards at all times to ensure the safety and security of all students.

Bus Passes

Starting September, the Lindenhurst UFSD will no longer be issuing bus passes.  Parents will be able to access their child’s bus route via the E-school parent portal.  Please call the Transportation Office at 867-3050 with any questions regarding busing.

Student Orientation

During the first few weeks of school, administrators will visit all Social Studies classes.  During these visits, students will receive information that will help them create a high school experience that maximizes their academic and social potential.  We will be focusing on student decorum, social media and vaping.

High School Policies

Please familiarize yourself with the Lindenhurst high school attendance policy, eligibility policy, and the enclosed Student Academic Achievement School-Parent Compact adopted by the Lindenhurst Board of Education.

Our goal at Lindenhurst high school is to provide all students with the best opportunities for academic and social-emotional success.  I invite all Lindenhurst high school community members to join administration in cultivating an environment that is safe and supports the academic growth and development of all our students.  We encourage all our students to get involved in the many extra-curricular activities we offer and build positive memories and experiences that will impact you for the rest of your life.

I wish you a very successful and productive school year. I will see you all on September 5th.

                                                                                                Dr. Clinton Grant, Principal
