Dear Lindenhurst Families,

Today is an exciting day for me as I join the Lindenhurst community as the principal of Lindenhurst High School!  Becoming part of this community that sees itself as one huge family is an honor and a responsibility that I do not take lightly.  I promise to care for your children as if they are my own and always use their best interest and well-being as my compass.  I have been an educator for 26 years as a teacher and administrator.  For all of those years, everything I have done has been guided by what is best for students.

I began my career as a social studies teacher at a Junior High School in Brooklyn.  North Shore School District was my home for 19 years as I taught middle school and then high school social studies and became the International Baccalaureate Coordinator, building a program from the ground up, graduating my first cohort, and ensuring that we could offer our students the best program possible.  As the Supervisor of Secondary Social Studies in Baldwin, I found myself missing the students terribly.  Becoming Assistant Principal, I regained the ability to work directly with students guiding them in the face of challenges and celebrating with them in times of success.  My greatest joy has been as Mom to my son Christopher who just graduated from high school and will attend Adelphi University in September.  His hard work and perseverance has made me proud, and I cannot wait to see what he will achieve in the future.

My goal for our students at Lindenhurst High School is for them to find what they love to do, where they find success, and what motivates them.  I can’t wait to get to know them and be part of their discovery.  It is my favorite part of being in education. Those things will be different for each student.  We will work together to support and guide them as they find their way.  Being a teenager is not easy, and our students need us more than ever.  When they leave us at the end of senior year, they should all be prepared for the world outside our walls.  No matter what path they choose, they will be ready, academically and emotionally, because they will have come from Lindenhurst, the Home of Excellence!

I am grateful for this opportunity to work with all of you and look forward to meeting you.  I will be hosting two “Meet and Greets” in the High School cafeteria on July 24th from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM and on August 6th from 6:30 PM-8:30 PM.  I hope to see you there.  If I don’t have the opportunity to meet you prior to the start of school, I look forward to meeting you on the field, during the Homecoming Parade, at the musical, or at the Marching Band Festival.

Best Regards,

Candice Brodie Ed.D
