Student registration during the COVID-19 pandemic will be performed remotely to protect the health and safety of district staff and community members. All documents, including the District Registration Packet linked below, can be electronically submitted to the following email address: Please leave your name and contact information (i.e. best phone number and/or email address to reach you at) with your email so that a representative from the Registration Office can reach you if necessary.

While parents are strongly encouraged to register their children electronically online, the district recognizes that there may be parents who are not able to do so. For those parents, we ask that you please follow this procedure: Come to the McKenna building to drop off registration forms from September 1, 2020 onward, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Upon arriving at the McKenna building someone will come to the door to accept the packets.  Please be advised that due to the possible spread of infection, out of an abundance of caution, any materials personally delivered to the district will be physically received, but not be processed until a full 24 hours has passed from the time of receipt.

To Register a New or Returning Student

All students must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. To register your child, please fill out the application online at  in its entirety and provide all the necessary documents.  You may download the packet using the link below and return required documents by email to:

PLEASE NOTE that children and youth in temporary housing can enroll in school without the documents normally needed to enroll.  Children and youth are temporarily housed or homeless if they lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence. Please complete the attached Housing Questionnaire or contact the District’s McKinney Vento Liaison (631) 867-3100 for assistance.

To Change an Address

Please follow the instructions below and submit the change of address request and all documentation to  If you have purchased your home, please provide a deed of sale, mortgage statement or tax bill plus a utility bill. If you are renting your home or living with family, please follow the guidelines above for renters. A current photo ID must be provided when changing your address

To Register New Students for Non-Public School Transportation & Textbooks

New enrollees must establish residency in the district by completing the following requirements and contacting Central Registration at

  1. Complete the following form:

    Private & Parochial Application Transportation/Textbook

  1. Attach a copy of the parent/guardian’s photo id

  2. If you are a HOMEOWNER, please submit a copy of a current property tax bill, mortgage statement or house deed plus 1 current utility bill. 

  3. If you are RENTING your home or living with family members, please complete the following 2 Affidavits. The landlord must submit proof of ownership (property tax bill/mortgage statement) and the parent/guardian must provide 1 current utility bill.

Kindergarten Registration 2021-22

Registration of eligible kindergarten students for the 2021-2022 school year will be performed remotely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In accordance with established policy of the Lindenhurst School District, children must be 5 years of age on or before Dec. 1, 2021, to be enrolled in kindergarten for the upcoming year. If your child has received or is currently receiving preschool special education services, you will still need to register for kindergarten.

For your child to be included in kindergarten screening and orientation, it is asked that you make every effort to register your child as soon as possible. Children who have not been registered by the screening and/or orientation dates scheduled by the individual elementary schools will not be allowed to attend the screening and/or orientation.

As a specific number of kindergarten seats exist in each elementary school, the district must utilize a first-come, first-served procedure. Please note that students registering later during the year may be enrolled in an overflow school within the Lindenhurst Union Free School District.
