Registration for Driver's Education will be open June through early September for the Fall, January for the Spring, and May/June for the Summer sessions. Please fill out and return the registration form and return with all other required materials to Ms. Wilbert in room 155. A mandatory meeting for parents and students will be held before the start of each semester. Your child's lecture and car class times will be chosen during this meeting.

Information for specific terms is available in the sidebar.

Please always check for the most up-to-date information as the start of the semester gets closer! Also, please have your child(ren) listen for the announcements, or look outside of room 155.

We will run 4 lecture classes each semester, if registrations warrant it. If not, the Friday class will be eliminated.

NYS Requirements

An approved driver's education course through your high school or college consists of:

  • 24 hours of classroom training
  • 24 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction

This full New York driver's education course takes a little longer to complete compared to the pre-licensing course, but teen drivers will gain additional driving experience. Upon completion, you will receive a Student Course Completion Certificate(Form MV-285), which is valid for 2 years.

Attendance Policies

The New York State Education Department guidelines for Driver and Traffic Safety Education require a minimum of 24 hours of classroom lecture and 24 hours of laboratory (in-car) instruction. This will include at least 6 hours of required behind-the-wheel driving for each student. Therefore, students MUST attend all 48 hours of the program to receive the MV-285 Student Certificate of Completion.

New York State allows NO ABSENCES!! ALL missed classes must be made up. The student is allowed 3 make-up classes for the Fall or Spring Semester. Students who miss more than 3 classes (even if made up), will be removed from the program without a refund.
