Pursuant to the governor's Executive Order 202.26, the annual budget vote and school board election has been scheduled for June 9, 2020, and will be held by absentee ballot only.

The public hearing on this year’s proposed budget will be held remotely on June 2, 2020 at 8 p.m. Information on how to access the hearing will be posted on the District website and Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Lindenhurst. All qualified voters of the Lindenhurst Union Free School District will be sent an absentee ballot together with a postage-paid return envelope and instructions for completing the same. Ballots must be returned in the provided envelope with the attestation on the envelope signed by the qualified voter. To be counted, all completed absentee ballots must be mailed and received in the Office of the District Clerk by 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020. In person deliveries will NOT be accepted.  

A qualified voter is a person who is a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, a resident of the District for at least 30 days prior to the date of the election, and who is not otherwise ineligible to vote under the provisions of section 5-106 of the Election Law (e.g. a person who has  been adjudged to be mentally incompetent by a court).

In light of the limitations posed by COVID-19, there will be no in-person voter registration held at school district offices prior to the June 9, 2020 vote. If you are not currently registered to vote, registration with the county board of elections is available online through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles website at dmv.ny.gov. Those wishing to register online must do so by May 26, 2020.

Information is also provided in Spanish in compliance with the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

    De conformidad con la Orden Ejecutiva del Gobernador 202.26, la  votacion del presupuestario anual y la elección de la junta escolar se han programado para el 9 de junio de 2020, y se llevarán a cabo solo por votacion en ausencia. 

     La audiencia pública sobre el presupuesto propuesto de este año se llevara a cabo de forma remota el 2 de junio de 2020 a las 8 p.m. La información sobre cómo acceder a la audiencia se publicará en el sitio web del Distrito en www.lindenhurstschools.org y página de Facebook y Facebook en www.facebook.com/Lindenhurst

     A todos los votantes calificados del Distrito Escolar de Lindenhurst Libre de Union se le enviará una boleta de ausencia junto con un sobre con franquero pagado e instrucciones para completar el mismo. Los boletos deben ser devueltas en el sobre proporcionado con la atestación en el sobre firmado por el votante calificado.

     Para ser contados, todos los boletos de ausencia completadas deben ser recibidos en la Oficina del Secretario de Distrito antes de las 5:00 p.m. del 9 de junio de 2020.

     Un votante calificado es una persona que es ciudadana de los Estados Unidos, al menos dieciocho años de edad, un residente del Distrito por lo menos 30 días antes de la fecha de la elección, y quien no es elegible para votar de acuerdo con las disposiciones de la sección 5-106 de la Ley Electoral (por ejemplo, una persona que ha sido adjuida como mentalmente incompetente por un tribunal). 

     A la luz de las limitaciones planteadas por COVID-19, no habrá registro de electores en persona en las oficinas del distrito escolar antes de la votación del 9 de junio de 2020. Si actualmente no está registrado para votar, el registro en la Junta Electoral del Condado está disponible en línea a través del sitio web del Departamento de Vehículos Motorizados del Estado de Nueva York en dmv.ny.gov. Aquellos que desean registrarse en línea deben hacerlo antes de 26 de mayo  de 2020.
