Dance

Lindenhurst Middle School offers a Dance program during zero period for students in grades 6-8.  This course will continue to build upon the basic movement/dance skills being taught in the general music classes at the elementary level while introducing many dance elements such as composition, technique, history, vocabulary, and body wellness. The students will experience many different dance genres and be given the opportunity to perform at the annual Evening of Dance at the high school as well as smaller community events and school celebrations.

Lindenhurst High School also offers an extensive Dance program for students whose interests lie in dance. The dance classes focus on students learning a wide range of dance genres including ballet, modern, lyrical, jazz, and hip hop. The dancers learn movement ideas that will teach them about effort, shape, dynamics, rhythm, body alignment, and awareness. They will learn how to move through space in an efficient and logical manner. The dancers will be required to not only physically perform through dance, but to also learn dance history, choreography and compositional work, improvisation, and performance skills. The dance students will be able to know, do, value, and create dance on many different levels.
